Rumors and Stories - The Order of the Phoenix Fifth Book in the Harry Potter Series

“JKR has warned us in an interview on CBC Newsworld: “the worst is coming . . .”

It is thought that the Centaurs might know something about the future since they had predicted Voldemort would cause the deaths of many innocents. It is widely known that the Centaurs are guided by the stars (astronomy) and as Mars, the war planet, gets brighter could there is a possibility of a war? Perhaps Firenze, the friendly centaur who saved our hero in Sorcerer’ Stone will assist as it is proven he likes the humans more than the other centaurs. Firenze took quite a bit of ribbing when he helped our beloved Harry in the wood in Sorcerer’s Stone. And say “Firenze” fast three (3) times. Doesn’t it sound a wee bit like “friends”???

It is also thought that perhaps Hagrid would most likely enlist the assistance of Madame Maxine from Beauxbottoms, another school of witchcraft and wizardry, to help Dumbledore head the cause (The Order of the Phoenix) to fight this epic battle. In this war there will be “good” giants and “bad” giants, good and bad witches, goblins, and the like. Basically, like “Lord of the Rings” by J Tolkien, there is always great strife (war) before there is peace.

The Dementors will probably side with Voldemort. They will free all the “criminals” of Azkaban to help in their “evil” plan to reign terror on the not only the wizard world but the “muggle” world too!! Perhaps Harry convinces the Dursley’s that if they DO not help they will die. Dudley seems to grasp this and sees that Harry is not too bad. Perhaps Dudley tries to befriend Harry and convince his folks to pitch in to help before it is too late. What a shuddering thought to dementors floating around town!

Lucius Malfoy is probably destined to help liberate Azkaban inmates and restoring them to their original, “bad” selves. Will Crouch Jr. have another “evil” role during this school year? Perhaps Lucius will also help free some of the folks at St. Mungo’s Hospital for the Insane. Being on the Board of Governors or Regents, Lucius Malfoy has considerable “influence” over the administrator of St. Mungo’s. Lucius Malfoy is particularly interested in Gilderoy Lockhart’s loss of memory. (See Gilderoy Lockhart below for more info.)

So who will be on the side of good and evil??

We are pretty sure the following will be on the side of good:

There are a few people to “Watch” if there is a war:

Death Eaters: We have no clues to date about the “unnamed” Death Eaters. Is it possible when Voldemort was on his killing spree with the other Death Eaters that there are witnesses other than baby Harry? It is predicted that when Voldemort tried to kill the auror couple Longbottoms that baby Neville was there. A strong “Memory” charm might be the cause of Neville’s lack of magical talent/recollection from his mind! Maybe he knows who the other Death Eaters could be . . oh my. Does Neville hold the key???? (See the Longbottoms below). It looks like Karkaroff is one of the Death Eaters as mentioned in book #4. (See Igor Karkaroff below for further predictions.)

Fleur Delacour: It is common knowledge that the French people had very extensive “underground networks” that was used during WWII resulting in assisting the war with covert activities and saving many innocent people. They were known for their incredible bravery and inventiveness as resistance fighters. Fleur may also develop her own crush on Harry’s good friend, Ron Weasley, who perhaps now is the Quidditch Keeper for Gryffindor. If there is some kind of student exchange program, she might come to Hogwarts, play on the Quidditch team as a “Chaser” and is impressed with Ron’s Keeper talents. She is also part Veela as evidenced by her silvery blonde hair. Veelas have special magical powers. She is one to watch, for sure!

Rita Skeeter & The Press: Is she good or bad?? Time will tell, but we now know she has displayed Harry Potter as “no knight in shining armor” and as a result she has cast doubt on which side she will actually end up! She has also cast a poor light in her articles on such people as Dumbledore, Arthur Weasley, Hermione, Lupin and Hagrid as well. Her article in the Daily Prophet had Mrs. Weasley convinced that Hermione was two-timing Harry and showed some “annoyance” at Hermione until she visited the Burrow and was finally convinced of the truth. Rita is one to watch!! And for that matter, isn’t a beetle just the kind of nasty “cockroachy” thing you wish to squash!?!?

Ludovic (Ludo) Bagman: We know from previous reading that both Winky and Crouch Senior think he is a “bad” one. He likes to gamble and has a huge debt. He probably overcompensates his bad gambling practices by his overeating. We know he is quite portly as mentioned in Book #4 when there is mention he had to squeeze himself into his old quidditch robes! It is thought his huge debt will eventually cloud his judgment and will most likely be persuaded by Lucius Malfoy to become a traitor to Dumbledore and the Ministry of Magic.

Longbottoms (Neville’s Parents): There is much speculation that Lucius Malfoy has something to do with keeping the Longbottom’s “insane” at St. Mungo’s. (We know that Malfoy is on their board of governors of sorts and has great influence over the management of St. Mungo’s.) Perhaps Hermione will come up with a special spell using not only her powers, but the powers of Ron and Harry to restore Neville’s memory!! Baby Neville might have seen one or more Death Eaters when Voldemort tried to kill his parents. Perhaps a Mind Unlocking Spell.

Gilderoy Lockhart: Will he get his memory back?? He might have figured out how to get cured over at St. Mungo’s, perhaps with the aid of Lucius Malfoy. So which side will he chose??? He might be very upset at Harry and Ron for his loss of memory back there in the Chamber of Secrets!! He may have a large debt to repay for regaining his memory and may end up on the “wrong” side with spying on the Order of the Phoenix, perhaps using his famous Memory Charm. He has special access because of his participation in the Defense Against The Dark Art Force. He might be the only member as we have never meet any other members of this elite force. Nonetheless, Dumbledore thinks he is on the side of “good”. Who will Lockhart be loyal to??

Percy Weasley: Well, Percy seems like someone who is going to self-combust some time in the future. Something is definitely very odd about Percy. Remember it took a really long time for Hedwig to get back from Percy when Ron wrote to him. Did it not seem “odd” he was picked for the position at the Ministry? He may figure out he was “set up” and have some sort of revenge. It is difficult to read Percy’s personality as he keeps to himself so much so we will just have to watch him when he is under pressure. Like the Holy Grail legend goes regarding his namesake Sir Perceval, will he lead to “someone’s death or mess up a rescue operation”?

Penelope Clearwater: It was pretty suspicious the way she was also petrified in the second year, Chamber of Secrets. How could both she and Hermione get petrified when Hermione was using that little mirror going around a corner?? Something doesn’t sound right. It is thought if something happens to Percy, she will be his only friend when all is said and done.

Igor Karkaroff: When we met Igor Karkaroff we found out he was very nervous about the “dark mark” when it started to pain him when Voldemort’s returned. Perhaps his “nervousness” is really “cowardice”? Remember in the 4th book when Voldemort mentioned a “coward” who has not returned when called? It seems he cannot be trusted in either event. And did you know that it is suspected the fur collar on his silvery robes is Demiguise fur. It is predicted the Demiguise fur works similarly to an invisibility cloak. Maybe he is just going to “fade into the woodwork”. We are sure he is going to be very worried that Voldemort is alive again.

So we leave you now with some of the main characters for our next mystery, who will be good and who will be bad? And who will die as JKR alluded to in a recent interview: “one of my most beloved characters will die”. Is it Hagrid, Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore??? Say it isn’t sooooo!
